Words of Hope

wheat with words of hope
The dictionary definition of hope is a feeling of expectation and desire for a certain thing to happen.

One of my favorite verses in the Bible is Psalm 62:5. My soul, wait thou only upon God; for my expectation is from him.  Let it be said of me, my source of hope is Christ the Lord!

What is your source of hope?

My hope is built on nothing less
than Jesus’ blood and righteousness.
I dare not trust the sweetest frame,
but wholly lean on Jesus’ name.

Refrain:
On Christ the solid rock I stand,
all other ground is sinking sand;
all other ground is sinking sand.

When Darkness veils his lovely face,
I rest on his unchanging grace.
In every high and stormy gale,
my anchor holds within the veil.

His oath, his covenant, his blood
supports me in the whelming flood.
When all around my soul gives way,
he then is all my hope and stay.

When he shall come with trumpet sound,
O may I then in him be found!
Dressed in his righteousness alone,
faultless to stand before the throne!

A few words of hope from the Bible to encourage you today

Why art thou cast down, O my soul?
and why art thou disquieted in me?
hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him
for the help of his countenance.
Psalm 42:5

May the God of hope
fill you with all Joy and Peace
as you trust in Him.
Romans 15:13

Be of good courage,
and he shall strengthen your heart,
all ye that hope in the Lord.
Psalm 31:24

For whatsoever things were written aforetime
were written for our learning,
that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures
might have hope.
Romans 15:4

Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer. Romans 12:12

In other words: Take joy if you have hope. Be patient if you lose hope. Pray more if you need hope.

Looking for that blessed hope,
and the glorious appearing
of the great God and our Saviour
Jesus Christ;
Titus 2:13

Who by him do believe in God,
that raised him up from the dead,
and gave him glory;
that your faith and hope
might be in God.
I Peter 1:21

God has put you in exactly the right crucible to burn up what He sees needs to be burnt up. Many think ‘victory’ means getting your circumstances put right. No! true triumph is within–when in the midst of your circumstances the Spirit of God can so energize you and strengthen you in spirit, that you can stand quiet in the thick of it all, and say, ‘God is God,’ and know that you are held by Him–which is infinitely better than all your trying to hold things steady.   quoted from None But the Hungry Heart: A Devotional Anthology

Therefore, my brethren . . . stand fast in the Lord.
Philippians 4:1

  1. We have a sure and living hope – not a wishful feeling. As we measure our faith in Christ, we can measure our hope in Him as well.
